Sarah Chikoski MSW RSW, Psychotherapist

Hey there, I’m Sarah (She/They), a registered Social Worker, and I’m here to walk alongside you on your path to healing and growth. I’m a Queer, gender fluid individual, with my own lived experiences. Having walked my own path, I truly understand the worth of this type of knowledge in therapeutic work. The special insights and lessons we gather from our personal journeys provide wonderful chances for self-reflection and personal growth. Embracing the idea that lived experience is a valid way of gaining understanding is at the heart of how I approach offering caring and anti-oppressive support. Where, my approach to counseling is all about creating a friendly and welcoming space where you can feel comfortable and understood.

I take a trauma-informed, collaborative, person-centered compassionate approach to understanding the human experience. Focusing on people not pathology in addressing underlying dynamics that impact wellbeing. Recognizing that healing can take time, and patience in the process of working through difficult subject matter towards a fuller understanding of ourselves and how we can come to be with our feelings and experiences. I view adversity as existing on a continuum, where pain is an unavoidable part of the human experience within the context of a persons life.

I’m deeply committed to helping individuals like you thrive, and I bring together elements from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy informed by psychodynamics to guide our journey together. I truly believe that each person has the inner wisdom and potential to heal and flourish.

As your counselor and partner in this process, I’m dedicated to providing you with a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can freely explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Together, we’ll embark on a collaborative journey of strategizing and discovery, working together to find effective ways to approach life’s challenges towards healing.

My approach is all about flexibility and responsiveness to your unique needs. This means that our discussions about skills (DBT, CBT, ACT) will be tailored specifically to you, ensuring that our experience is dynamic and reflective of your personal journey. Depending on what suits you best, our sessions might involve structured conversations or even some homework assignments that we can review and discuss together.

If you’re ready to take that important step towards positive change, I invite you to get in touch with me today. Let’s join forces to uncover your strengths, embrace your narrative, and set out on a transformative journey of healing and growth, together.
