Get directionsThe health care team at the NorWest Community Health Centres in Thunder Bay and Longlac includes family physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, footcare nurses and a dietitian. The Thunder Bay team also includes a counsellor and a chiropodist. The Armstrong health care team consists of nurse practitioners.
Our family physicians and nurse practitioners provide medical care and regular check ups for clients.
During Walk-in Clinics at our Thunder Bay site, patients are seen by a nurse practitioner for issues such as cuts, coughs and colds, fever, earaches, infections, HIV testing, pregnancy tests, sexual health and birth control.
Counselling services are available at the Thunder Bay Site and through our Telemedicine Services (OTN) Ontario Telemedicine Network at both our Longlac and Armstrong Sites. Areas of focus are on emotional and mental health related to anxiety, depression, trauma and situational issues. Collaborative Care Model with primary care providers and referrals to community services and programs are available.
Dr Ray Balec has received trans primary care training and will initiate hormone therapy.
