Specialized Training:
Integrated therapy and counselling using elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and psychodynamic approaches as appropriate all within a harm reduction model. Specialized training in Humanist-Existential approaches that include Dialectic Behaviour Therapy, CBT, Mindfulness, Solution-focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Emotionally-Focused Therapy, and Emotion-Focussed Family Therapy for couples, groups, and individuals. The focus of my practice has three specialities:
1-LGBTTIQ issues, challenges and mental health including attachment-related issues and building healthy relationships;
2-Addictions – substance use and behavioural addictions (gambling, sexual, spending, internet) and the mental health and life challenges that underlie them, including Mood and Anxiety;
3-Borderline Personality Disorder and Emotion Regulation/Dysregulation, including anger management and trauma.
Personal Statement:
As a Gay man with more than 5 years of counselling experience working specifically within the LGBTTIQ community, and with the general adult populations in addictions, mental health and borderline personality disorder, I provide psychotherapy services to adult individuals, couples, and groups with mental health, addiction and life challenges. I provide a supportive environment for clients to safely explore challenges, conflicts and issues. From my Annex office, I provide counselling and therapy to help clients achieve better emotional and physical health, and satisfying personal relationships. I am a clinical social work with training and experience in general psychotherapy, relationships, personal growth and spirituality as well as specific expertise in coming-out, sexual identity, trauma, anger management, personality disorders, addictions and the underlying symptoms that contribute to addictions. Whether confronting a specific problem or helping you with longer-term understanding of yourself, I look forward to being a part of your journey of healing and growth.
