Making Us Visible was a partnership project between Sherbourne Health, Ontario Breast Cancer Community Research Initiative, Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto, Willow Breast Cancer Support and Resource Services, and the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto.
The goal of the project was to promote access to breast health and breast cancer services for lesbian and bisexual women, and it was funded by the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
The project worked to develop a training program to increase knowledge and sensitivity for peer support volunteers when working with lesbian and bisexual women who have had a breast cancer diagnosis. This training was further developed into a workshop for a broad range of health care and social service providers and piloted throughout Ontario.
This resource is a guide to delivering a workshop for health care and social service providers to increase their knowledge, skills and sensitivity in working with lesbian and bisexual women in the area of breast health and breast cancer.
