This fact sheet explores the relationship between lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBTQ) people and exercise. It takes as its starting point the understanding that physical fitness is an important factor in developing individual well-being. It reveals that exercise brings a variety of mental and physical health benefits to those in the LGBTQ community. This fact sheet also analyzes the amount of exercise done by LGBT men, women, and youth and compare it to the amount of exercise performed by their heterosexual peers.
