Experience in LGBT2SQ research
I have worked with several regional, provincial, and national LGBT2SQ groups on research related to health outcomes and social determinants of health for these communities. My published research has focused largely on experiences of social exclusion and health and health care access outcomes for LGBT2SQ communities. Additionally, I have held grants from several agencies, including the Ontario HIV Treatment Network, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
Interest in LGBT2SQ research
My research primarily focuses on population and community health, and associated research methodologies. I explore health disparities based on sexual orientation and gender identities, focusing on topics such as access to healthcare services, mental health, chronic and infectious diseases, including HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. My work encompasses these health issues across various levels—individuals, families, communities, and populations. Additionally, I collaborate with community representatives on community-based research initiatives aimed at empowering underserved populations to undertake rigorous, community- and policy-relevant research.
